Being a mom comes with its responsibilities; it is a 24/7 job, and 28-year-old Mime is not afraid to admit that it’s a lot. “One of my biggest challenges is being able to care for the kids the way they both need at the same time and still show up for myself and my husband without being burnt out,” she says. She spends her days juggling her job as a visual artist, being a mother to two children, and maintaining her social life. It got challenging, and the daily juggling was tiring… until she discovered Temu.
TEMU MEETS NIGERIA:
Temu, launched in 2022, is a multinational e-commerce company known for its extremely low-priced goods. Temu’s entry into the Nigerian market was swift, with an aggressive launch strategy and a business model focused on direct-from-factory pricing. The platform has quickly gained a foothold, influencing how Nigerians shop, run their businesses, and even create content. Lately, going a day without encountering a Temu ad has become impossible; from Instagram to Pinterest, Temu has infiltrated every conceivable marketing surface.
The platform offers a vast range of products across more than 600 categories, including clothing, electronics, home goods, beauty products, and pet supplies. Temu has since expanded its operations to over 90 markets as of April 2025, quickly becoming a top-downloaded app in many countries, including Nigeria. It has quickly become a go-to source for many, including Abuja-based visual artist, Mime. “Discovering Temu helped me find small fixes that make a big difference, especially a baby wrap that lets me keep my reflux-prone son upright while staying hands-free,” she expresses, “My baby wrap is my go-to. It lets me carry my son close while still having my hands free to get things done,” she adds, freeing her up to make breakfast on time and be more present for her daughter.

Unknowingly, Mime echoes a nationwide sentiment about Temu; it provides products you never knew you needed. A survey conducted by News24, with support from Temu, revealed that within the platform’s first 100 days in Nigeria, 81% recognised the platform for its affordability and 46% estimated they save over half of their shopping budget when using Temu.
WHAT NIGERIANS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT TEMU:
For Mimie, this affordability has opened a pathway to happiness. Temu isn’t just practical; it brings joy. “My daughter was thrilled with flashcards, educational toys, and new clothes. She kept saying ‘thank you, mommy’ for days.” Having affordable essentials in one place, delivered to her door, lightens the mental load of parenting and keeps the household running, giving Mimie a little more room to pursue her creativity and enjoy the beautiful, chaotic journey of motherhood.
Nigerian-born designer Ramatallahi Abubakar, who now resides in Bradford, West Yorkshire, UK, is on a mission to create beautiful outfits that make women feel confident in what they wear. As a mother of one, she decided to pursue entrepreneurship and founded Ramatporsche Design.

To get started, Ramatallahi began searching online for affordable, high-quality supplies such as sewing needles, pattern paper, and a mannequin. She discovered that she could find everything she needed for her business on the online marketplace Temu.
“My mannequin from Temu was a game-changer,” Ramatallahi says. “It saved me from constant back-and-forth fittings and allowed me to perfect my designs much faster. The quality is outstanding; it’s sturdy, durable, and perfect for fittings. I was so excited when it arrived that I dressed it in one of my gowns and shared photos with my friends; they all wanted the link!”
She estimates that shopping on Temu saves her 40-50% compared to local stores, making her quality designs more accessible to her clients.
Ramatallahi is not alone in her experience. Temu often features a handful of TikTok marketing, including both inorganic and organic content. This, in turn, empowers a diverse array of content creators across multiple platforms. One of these is OGOM, a content creator who relies on the platform for her props and tools. By offering an unprecedented array of affordable products, Temu is democratising content creation, boosting individuals like her to experiment with new ideas, produce diverse content, and connect with audiences without the financial strain previously associated with the craft. This accessibility means creators can easily acquire unique props, innovative tools, and stylish backdrops, transforming their visions into reality with everyday items that spark inspiration.
Temu has significantly transformed the shopping landscape for many Nigerians, offering not just affordability but also convenience and accessibility. For individuals like Mime and Ramatallahi, the platform has become an invaluable resource, enabling them to juggle responsibilities and pursue their passions more effectively.
